Our Story

PhaseSpace Inc. was founded in San Leandro, California with a mission to build the most precise and reliable motion capture technology available. We pioneered active LED marker technology — where every marker emits its own unique signal — solving the fundamental problems of marker identity and outdoor capture that passive systems still struggle with today.

Over two decades, our systems have been deployed in robotics labs, neuroscience research facilities, virtual production stages, and defense applications worldwide. From tracking a Rubik's Cube in a robotic hand for OpenAI to capturing human motion underwater in Singapore, we thrive on challenges that push the boundaries of what motion capture can do.

Our Technology

The Impulse X2E system captures at up to 960 frames per second with sub-millimeter precision. Each active LED marker is individually addressable, providing guaranteed marker identity without post-processing. Our real-time SDK streams position data with sub-millisecond latency directly to your applications — whether that's a robotic control loop, a virtual production engine, or a research data pipeline.

PhaseSpace is a veteran-owned business that designs, engineers, and manufactures its motion capture systems in the United States. We have received over $10 million in U.S. government revenue through SBIR awards and system purchases, with funding from the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, NASA, the Department of Energy, and the Naval Research Laboratory.

Our headquarters and engineering lab are at 14709 Catalina St, San Leandro, CA 94577. We design, build, and test everything in-house, giving us full control over quality and the ability to rapidly iterate on custom solutions for our clients.
